BLACKBERRY & LIME CHIA FRESCA – By Cocoon Cooks

This Chia Fresca is super refreshing and hydrating, and contains healthy doses of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins from the blackberries, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from the chia seeds and the detoxifying and alkalizing properties of lime. It is the perfect drink to whip up when you need some extra hydration from spending the weekend at the beach and just don’t feel like drinking water. Staying hydrated in the summer is especially key in flushing out toxins (hello summer cocktails and indulgent foods!) and helping your body to function properly.

Make it – In a high speed blender, combine 3/4 cup blackberries with the juice of 1 1/2 limes, the maple syrup and 2 cups of water. Blend until completely smooth, then strain the mixture with a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. In a large jar or bottle, combine the chia seeds with 2 cups of water and stir thoroughly, making sure the seeds do not form clumps. Pour in the blackberry and lime mixture and stir again. Drop in 1/4 cup blackberries and 1/2 a lime, cut in thin slices. Place the jar in the fridge and allow to rest for at least 30 minutes. Serve on ice and enjoy!
